Even then it would still be a 8,5 gen or something imo. You could also argue that its still competeing against the PS4/XB1 after the PS5/XSX launches :p

Yeah, in fact that would quite literally make the Switch a “Gen 8.5” console. However do we acknowledge in-between gens? In any case it wouldn’t make the question any easier. 
Your last sentence is true. Then it depends on how Switch is positioned and what kind of games it still gets.
