The manga was dragged out.
The story was barely evolving after Inuyasha gets tessaiga. It was always "I need this new power to kill Narak", then at the same time he gets that power Narak gets a power to not be killed by InuYasha and we go again for anoter "I need this new power", rinse and repeat for like 6 times (arcs) until he finally go to hell and get the power to finally end Narak.
