Like I said before, anything less than a $130 drop will be seen as halfhearted and not effective. The problem is that Sony needs to fight perception. The PS3 is currently seen as a poor gaming value (compared to Wii or the 360) and poor BR value (cheaper BR and HDVD players are available).

Most customers are looking for one or the other, so PS3 being a better combo value is of little import to the many that see the tasks as discrete and compare the PS3 to the dedicated devices.

So, if PS3 were to move units off the shelves, it needs to position itself as compelling value in one category or another

I expect this to have a roughly +30% sales for the first month and negligible impact (less than 10% greater than current sales) afterwards. The increases it will see will be more from new titles and xmas season
