Anything involving gaming and community is going to be toxic in some way or another. There are always going people who are going to be deeply disturbed.. that's practically in every industry. But there are also communities like here, that bring people together. When its not all console wars, its nice to talk and discuss with others about games.
For me the most fun I have is playing VG's with close friends. Ignore the bs and just have fun, that's what video games are intended for. The internet can be a cesspit though. Getting death threats over a fictional character is just beyond sad.
