Yeah, I can see how 0 would be very hard to top. Just about everything about it was fantastic, from the story to the minigames to the music. Kiwami 1 didn't even come close to 0 for me personally, the main story was pretty good and I loved Haruka (she is one of those rare video game children that can make you feel actual parental affection), but the rest felt like a downgrade compared to 0, especially since Majima wasn't playable (his combat is alot more fun than Kiryu's imo). I am expecting good things from Kiwami 2 and 6, but I'm definitely worried that 3-5 are going to feel very dated. I really wish they had decided to give 3-5 the Kiwami treatment as well, but they really wanted to move on an do 7/Like A Dragon I guess. Hopefully 7 is good, the change to turn based combat feels like it will probably be an improvement for me, as Yakuza's action combat doesn't have a ton of depth and starts to feel pretty grindy thanks to the high enemy encounter rates while exploring the open world. |
That was my biggest problem. I ended up playing the best one first and after that it was all downhill from there
Yeah coming from 0 to Kiwami 1 they delegated
Kiwami 2 kicked back up for me in terms of story and the minigames really help hold it down strong. As well as the extra content. 3-5 if they brought that over, I personally probably won't replay them, but 6 I would. Would love a Kiwami 3, but don't think that's happening. And yeah I agree with the combat system, I feel like it adds a needed change the formula. At first I was against it, but looking back at how grindy it can get with thugs in past games, I welcome the change.
