Those games are dubious choices. Especially SSBB. DMC has high critic and low user scores on PS3 and XB360, but it scored quite well with critics and users on PC, and also sits at 9/10 on Steam. The PS4 and XBO versions score even higher. |
Well, think of it this way. It's a very poor Devil May Cry but on it's own a decent western action game. DMC fans like me hate it for many reasons. Tone not fitting. The jr high trying to be edgy tone but most of all 2 factors. 30FPS is not acceptable for a DMC game. The combat was also pretty shallow for something using the name Devil May Cry. It had nowhere near the depth and SSS combos were far too easy to pull off. It had some good ideas but nothing felt special about it overall either. The remaster fixed the framerate but it could not fix every other issue fans had with it. DMCV borrowed some ideas and that is fine but the depth of the combat was back. The tone was right. 60FPS. For those that like DmC more. That's fine I get it. Just it's one of those retrospect seen in a bad light similar to FFXIII which also got good reviews.
Despite what some dopes say it was never about hair. It was everything else and how Taneem literally told fans if they liked old DMC they were gay and told them to go fuck themselves vocally. Critics may have praised it but remember these critics have the running meme they suck at games so easy mode is considered game journalist mode. DmC is a much easier game than standard DMC. DMC is typically for people who love and are good at fighting games and pull off insane combos with a lot of button ballet on the controller. It's like people who play VanQuish as a cover shooter are playing VanQuish wrong yet most do as they don't know how to properly play it like an action game.
