For me it was the PS1 back in August 1999. I remember saving from my allowence and birthday gifts, roughly 80% was paid in coins (poor counter lady). I chose the PS1 manly due to two reasons, because it was the "cool" system back then, and because my cousin also had one and had a lot of games, which I obviously borrowed. Playing FF 7 and 9, RE2, GT2 and, most important, MGS was absolutely fantastic!
