This situation might end up turning out like Avengers Endgame.  The movie was hugely successful the first week, so much that I thought it would smash Avatar's record.  In the end it had terrible legs, but it did very barely limp past Avatar.  Why were the legs bad?  Did people hate the movie?  No, people greatly praised how great it was.  The real reason it was front loaded was that people wanted to avoid spoilers, so they all saw it as fast as possible before they accidently found out too much on the internet.

I could see TLoU2 ending up in a similar situation.  There are spoilers everywhere right now about this game.  I personally know the main twist that happens near the beginning, even though I didn't go seeking out spoilers in any way.  Whether you love or hate this game, it is hard to deny that there are spoilers everywhere about it.  And I can see a very common reaction being, "I'm just going to play it and decide for myself."

So, I don't know if the sales will be front loaded or not, but I see this as a very likely scenario, even if people really like the game.  It's not a secret that the story is one of the main selling points, so people probably want to play ASAP before they get accidentally spoiled.
