https://www.pcgamer.com/women-in-the-games-industry-speak-out-over-sexual-assault-and-harassment/
Over the last several days, hundreds of women in the games industry have posted to social media about their experiences with sexual assault and harassment by peers and colleagues. In many cases, their allegations have quickly been echoed by others with similar experiences, reinforcing patterns of inappropriate behavior. These stories coincide with a similar spate of allegations of abuse in comics, pro wrestling, and other industries.
>> Surprising no one, there's also harassment in the video games industry.

https://www.pcgamer.com/valorant-102-patch-rolls-out-today-ranked-play-will-come-a-little-later/
The Valorant 1.02 patch that will finally give players at the wrong end of a righteous ass-kicking the opportunity to throw in the towel is going live today, but the ranked mode is going to have to wait just a wee bit longer. Riot said over the weekend that competitive play would be included up with the update, but tweeted earlier today that it will in fact be coming later.
>> That was two days ago.

Electronic Arts plans to 'double down' on Star Wars games
https://www.pcgamer.com/electronic-arts-plans-to-double-down-on-star-wars-games/
Remember way, way back, when Electronic Arts' handling of the Star Wars license seemed so shaky that Disney had to reassure investors that it had a "good relationship" with the company? Yeah, that was last year. Things have improved since then, and now EA CEO Andrew Wilson says that the publisher plans to "double down" on its partnership with Disney going forward.
>> Just because EA wants to, that doesn't mean that Disney will agree, tho they'll most likely do..

https://www.pcgamer.com/minecrafts-nether-update-overhauls-its-underground-world-today/
Minecraft's dingy underground realm has been given a makeover in the Nether update, out today. Once you start exploring, you'll find new biomes to explore, like fungal forests, and bump into their denizens, some friendly and some, not so much.

New World's progression and crafting sound pretty familiar
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-worlds-progression-and-crafting-sound-pretty-familiar/
The appeal of New World seems to be that it's just an MMO. It's not a battle royale, it's not a survival game and it's not putting an unusual spin on the MMO formula. It's the kind of thing you might have expected to be announced a decade ago, but has since fallen by the wayside.

Mafia: Definitive Edition will let you tone down the cops
https://www.pcgamer.com/mafia-definitive-edition-will-let-you-tone-down-the-cops/
When you're driving around an open world, you can usually get away with a lot, throwing the rules of the road out the window. That's not the case in Mafia's Lost Heaven, where driving recklessly and running red lights draws the attention of the cops.
With the impending Definitive Edition, however, Hangar 13 has made some tweaks, and that includes how dogged the cops are when they're patrolling the roads. Seeing as this is one of the features that makes Mafia stand apart from later open-world crime capers, it's not being removed, but you will be able to fiddle with settings for police presence and what they do when you break the rules.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla creative director steps down following accusation of long-term affair with a fan
https://www.pcgamer.com/assassins-creed-valhalla-creative-director-steps-down-following-accusation-of-infidelity-with-a-fan/
Assassin's Creed Valhalla creative director Ashraf Ismail has announced that he's stepping down from the project. The move follows an accusation made earlier this week that Ismail, who also worked on Assassin's Creed Origins and Black Flag, was engaged in a sexual relationship with a fan while hiding his marriage from her.
>> For God's Sake! *sigh* Another win for the puritans. Let's hope the end result of the game, and the series, isn't affected by his departure.

Inception will be shown in Fortnite this Friday
https://www.pcgamer.com/inception-will-be-shown-in-fortnite-this-friday/
If you want to watch Inception, the 2010 Christopher Nolan movie about dream invaders, it's available on Netflix and lots of other services. At any time, you can hit play and sad Leonardo DiCaprio will fill your screen. But if that seems too obvious, you can instead wait until this Friday, log into Fortnite, drop onto Party Royale island, and watch Inception on a screen within a screen.
