Well this raises a good point. Guessing PS5 and XBOX X will support 2.1 and in turn I would benefit from a monitor that supports it.

I am not in a rush for a monitor, had the same 24inch for almost 10 years lol. 

Lol fair enough yeah if you are happy with what you have it might be worth waiting. I think it will be al least another year until we will see monitors and TV's with that spec mind. Would also be an option to get higher end 43" 4k TV with HDMI 2.1 support and set a custom resolution for ultrawide if the screen is too large in 16:9 and sit back a bit for console games.
