Don't get your hopes up IMO. Sony will be getting aggressive going into next gen, and will probably do whatever they can to maintain its dominance of the home console market, which means shelling out for timed or console exclusivity of big titles, even more so next gen I think, since they don't have an incompetent Microsoft making it easy for them.

The thing about it that makes little sense to me is that they largely seem to focus on moneyhatting JP exclusives. Xbox Series is already at a huge disadvantage against PS5 when it comes to Japanese gamers, as well as western fans of JP games. Sony can easily be the market leader in Japanese games without exclusivity on those games, they will sell more on PS5 than on XSX as multiplat games. If Sony wants to steal Xbox marketshare they need big western exclusives, but they don't moneyhat those. Almost every moneyhat rumor I've read for tomorrow's show is a JP game; FF16, Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil 8, Silent Hill, etc. I'm sure those are cheaper to moneyhat than western games would be, since the publishers aren't losing out on too many sales by not having them on Xbox and/or PC at release, but for the price of moneyhatting all of those combined they could afford to moneyhat a bigger western game and actually steal some Xbox marketshare. It's a strange strategy, if you're going to moneyhat at least make it count.

That is because you are counting all timed or full exclusive as moneyhats when in fact very few games got moneyhatted. They were exclusive by default to the point we had several games that in Japan were exclusive because there were 0 reason to make a japanese translation for the game.

Possible moneyhats are FFVIIR (possibly an agreement after FFXIII gone to Xbox and the promissed Versus turned to XV as well), SFV was Sony paying for development, and couple other games (like Detroit), there rest were just companies deciding it wasn't worth putting their game on Xbox like Yakuza serie that took full gen and MS going to japan (and probably paying for the port) to beg.

But I would like a list with evidence of all these moneyhatted exclusives.
