From what I’ve seen it is definitely a full sized game. A playthrough with all main and side quests and a decent amount of grinding can easily go over 40 hours.

Even without grinding if you do all 24 sidequests (there are 26 total, but one chapter have you choose between doing 2 sidequests or the other 2) it will round 40h to finish first time if you explored the map to pick the weapons, minded the intel mission and colisseum.

I didn't even know this games comes in multiple pieces. Well, not buying this Humpty Dumpty until the king's men have put it back together.

They have announced it would be like this for over 3 years already, seems like you don't care much about the title.

Split compared to FFVIIR sure, still LOTR for example is a single book and Godfather as well both were turned in 3 movies (and in godfather case took a long time). It is just a matter of perspective, a trilogy is still one story split in 3. It is just that you are hang on the original being single piece. Still the remake is enough content and self-contained to be satisfying by itself.

I dunno. Just doesn't sit well with me.

I mean... Mass Effect was amazing because there was no "generational leap" in all three games, they all use the same game engine and they were all released on the same hardware, so playing through all three games is great and not jarring.

I would have preferred it being a single release though... And one day I might get that opportunity if Bioware pulls it's finger out.

Understand and it is valid, it have the two sides one that like to play it all at once and have that experience blowing some others like the expectation. I'm of the first type as well, but I can appreciate the expectation (I have been reading One Piece for over 15 years and know it will take another decade for it to finish).
