You're right, nobody cares about specs, people just look at the games. And when it comes to next gen graphics, they should be self explanatory. My half blind granny could look at that UE5 demo and immediately tell the difference from current gen. MS failed to do the same with their "optimized for Series X" games and have literally said that it's harder to promote their next gen games because people need to feel 60fps and 4k. The UE5 engine might scale all the way down to mobiles but that tech demo, does not. The whole point of it was to show what the ps5, and their SSD tech in particular, can do. Maybe it does run on a RTX2070 Super with a NVME SSD, but it would still be physically impossible to run on current gen consoles, unlike any of the "optimized for Series X" games we've seen that'll run fine on a Xone. That is the difference between games "that just like pc, scale up and down a family of devices (including the Xone)" and games that are specifically designed for next gen hardware. Sony is going for the old fashioned approach and are doing a complete reset. They will probably show games during their reveal that can potentially take full advantage of the ps5 hardware, while MS is doing the exact opposite with Series X and are going for a more pc-like approach. This is not me speculating or making up theories, it's literally what Phil Spencer been talking about for months. Like I said, the difference between Halo Infinite on Xone and Series X, will likely be comparable to Gears 5 on Xone vs the pc version on ultra settings. It will look a lot better but do you honestly believe it will have different ai, physics and completely different level design? Scaling down, like we're seeing on pc, doesn't really work like that man. |
Yeah people look at the games. You’re harping on a tech demo though, not a game lol. A tech demo that would look at least as good on XSX if not better since it has more power.
You expect PS5 launch titles to have big advancements in any of the things you listed? We went over this already in another thread where you were spreading this FUD. You even tried to tell us Infamous SS had big gameplay enhancements not possible on PS3 and linked to a DF article that said exactly what I was telling you already... it looked great but played like everything else.
As for Halo, who knows? We can go with what your optimistic gut is telling us, or what the developers of the game say and Microsoft’s own history with cross gen games. Tough call.
