3rd parties do it every gen to ease into the transition, this is normal. 1st party depends on your factions “culture”.

I actually fully support MS initiative to do the same transition period in launch year. It benefits others in that late adopters aren’t left out who don’t want to upgrade right away. It benefits me in that cross gen games still look much better and tend to score higher.

Next gen launch exclusives historically sacrifice quality for graphics. It becomes a shallow tech demo. Look at the meta scores of Ryse and Knack (see I’m using both consoles for examples). Then you got Forza 5 and Killzone Shadowfall, each the lowest scored games in both series.

We got the entire gen to play next gen exclusives, I say the launch year is an exception because quality matters.

Bold prediction: LOU2 remaster for PS5 will outsell any next gen exclusives by a long shot. PS fans will tell you next gen only matters yet this will fly directly in contrast.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
