And I’m sure in your usual optimistic way, you expect all the games in their July “conference” to look as “disappointing” as some found them to be during the Inside Xbox “conference”. I’m not sure why I’m supposed to care about what others thought or why it is relevant to the discussion.

There were next gen only games in the “conference”. Per usual you are getting your facts wrong.

If you will be disappointed totally depends on your exceptions of what next gen games should be about. If you're expecting Xone games like Halo Infinite, Forza 8 to be amazing and running on ultra settings, 60fps and some ray tracing effects on Series X, you probably won't be disappointed. However, if you're hoping to see games that are unlike any current gen games running on a high-end pc, you probably will be.

And no, there weren't any next gen only games at the Series X first look event. There were a couple of games that were pc and series X, but that doesn't mean you're going to need a SSD and RTX2080 to run them. Hell, this is what Scorn looks like running on a pc in 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpk4p5AriPs or Bright Memory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWgOHjAyiyk

It's the same thing with Godfall on ps5, which also isn't going to get people super excited for next gen games as the pc requirements will probably be a lot lower than what's in these next gen consoles.

You do realize that PC's don't have generations, right? So a game being next gen only = it's not coming to Xbone or PS4. Like Scorn, and Bright Memory Infinite. People haven't been super excited about Godfall because what has been shown has looked very generic. It has nothing to do with PC specs. You honestly think most people who look at these things online have any idea what the PC minimum specs will be or care? Also it's funny that you're aware of the idea of minimum specs when you think it suits your agenda but are oblivious to them when it doesn't.

Kind of like how your whole idea of what qualifies as next gen has shifted to exclude whatever MS does. First it was groundbreaking gameplay and elements that can only be done on new hardware. When it was apparent that you were wrong and even Sony wouldn't have games like that, you changed it to "uh well it's just about incredible graphics! got to show off that power!" despite the fact that literally every console launches with games that have immense graphics upgrades over the previous gens. Even cross gen multiplat games can look way better on new hardware. So again it was apparent you were wrong and now it's about some supposed cosmic shift in direction that you claim MS is making. They're marketing the XSX based on its power but according to you they aren't really going to utilize that power because uh.. PC's have some specs zzzzzzz.

Funny you mention Halo Infinite, the game being worked on by Stinkles, who you repeatedly post an interview of saying that devs target the best hardware and work down, that the XSX version will be incredible, among other quotes devastating to your agenda, but you ignore them and focus on where he says the Xbone version will play great. Because you for some reason believe the Xbone version looking great means the XSX version cannot. Forza 8 can look amazing on Xbone and still be built for the XSX. You continue to ignore the evidence of impressive cross gen games given to you, even from Microsoft themselves, because they are damaging to your agenda. It's funnier than ever now because you're so eager to talk about what "Sony did" with this UE5 tech demo. Funny because one, Sony didn't do anything with it, Epic made it. And two, it showcases the exact type of scaling possibilities everyone has been telling you about for months now, but it took a tech demo on PS5 for you to witness it, though you clearly still don't understand it.

Lastly, the PS5 logo itself generated more buzz than the reveal of the XSX console. I know that you want to harp on like rates and Instagram shares and tweets because they suit your agenda but in the end Playstation is just a more popular brand and will get more buzz regardless. Again, see: PS5 logo reaction. So I don't give a shit about how people respond to the "conference" MS just had or the July "conference". Hope that helps.
