“completely optimized for PS5”

“1440p and 30fps” lol. By the way it wasn’t even really 1440p it was a scaling resolution. This was optimized especially for PS5? Pretty obvious why it was just a tech demo. Also none of what you said has anything to do with the engine scaling up or down for different devices. Again, UE5 will make games from the most powerful PC hardware all the way down to tablets and smartphones.

Your take on PC gaming is even more laughable than your delusions regarding XSX. Look up what minimum requirements means. Also load up your phones calendar and see what a maximum of two years from November 2019 means. Hope that helps.

Targeting 30fps and getting the best visuals on screen is the whole point of console optimization. It's basically why games still look as good as they do on 10-year-old hardware. Sure, UE5 is a multiplatform engine that scales all the way down to mobiles. However, that tech demo was specifically designed to showcase the new next gen features of the engine on ps5 hardware. Unless, of course, you believe streaming 8k movie quality assets and having "unlimited" geometry would also run on a phone without setting it on fire.

Fact remains that you'll need a NVME SSD and a RTX 2070 Super to run that tech demo at 30fps, while any of the games MS has shown so far will likely run fine on a GTX1060 orlower. The difference there is that the tech demo did have that next gen wow factor, while MS is talking about how hard it is to promote their games because they have to feel that 60fps.

"Xbox boss Phil Spencer has acknowledged that it's been challenging to demonstrate the true leap that the Xbox Series X will provide over the Xbox One, but it appears that could be changing once people are actually able to try out the systems for themselves in longer gameplay sessions. In Reggie's new podcast, Spencer said one of the most defining characteristics of next-gen games is how they "feel" with faster and more stable frame rates

It's not possible to demonstrate this with videos, Spencer said. And with physical events canceled or postponed due to COVID-19, Microsoft is facing a new dilemma in trying to communicate the appeal of faster frame rates."

If you think MS have set some kind of timer for cross gen support then fine. You're just forgetting to ask yourself why they're doing it in the first place. It's really no secret what MS is doing here as they've flat out told us months ago. They are focusing on the bulk of the pc gamers, instead of getting into another format war with Sony and Nintendo. Why do you think MS's biggest 1st party studios are now making games like Gears Tactics and likely another Halo Wars? Games that aren't even getting released on consoles.

PC gamers are they main focus and we don't really know what the average gaming pc will look like 2 years from now. But until Series X like specs are main stream on pc, MS will just be making smaller scale games that'll run fine on mid-range pc's or Xbox One games that run in native 4k/60fps.

A gaming laptop ran that demo at a steady 1440p and 40+ frames per second. You’re buying into the Epic marketing talk that they do every generation.

Also Gears Tactics and Flight Sim are coming to console. Halo Wars and Halo Wars 2 came to console. At some point maybe mods will see your posts as something more than coincidental ignorance. These are facts easy to research. Microsoft has always had games that were PC only. The games you are listing as evidence that they are appealing to PC only crowds aren’t them lol
