I'd just upgrade to Nvidia's 3000 series and then wait until DDR5/PCI-E 5.0 assuming they are coming in the same generation if you have a good pc setup already. Cause both Intel and AMD's new cpus feels like foreplay to the real sex that will be with AM5 and Alder Lake S. Now as a saying goes, if you wait for every new tech, you will be waiting forever... But I'd say that if you already have a really good PC and the next gen games will take a couple years to really take advantage of the new technologies, waiting until 2022 isn't the worst thing in the world. |
I'm currently using a 1080 with a 6850k. My CPU is giving me trouble in RL at 144fps. The GPU is actually quite enough unless I play AAA games on super Ultra with AA cranked up. It's just a really terrible time right now. The GPUs are just perfect, CPUs are lacking, but are still tons better than what I have, the mainboards are like a second before a huge generation jump and the monitors exist but are immorally expensive.
I think I should just get my new TV right now, because basically everything hinges on whether I can get a proper 4k display right now. If the TV works as a gaming display, I'll upgrade, if not, I'll have to wait either way. No 4k gaming display, no reason to upgrade.
