I am assuming free games is where most of their money is going into while an underpaid intern is in charge of creating features for the store. Every store on PC needs to have something to stand out if they want to survive against steam's dominance so if free games is EGS's gimmick, I don't mind that their store is very lacking since even veterans can't keep up with steam's features. I still don't like their exclusivity nonsense so I have yet to buy a single game from EGS but it's hard to ignore free games.

It is a bit funny when you consider how much shit PC gets these days for free or very cheap...

Gamepass from Windows Store which can usually be found for $1 a month
Bundles from Humble Bundle and free games once in a while etc
Arguably much more notable free games from EGS
Occasional free games from steam
If you have amazon prime, 4-6 free games every month from twitch prime
And there's tons more other stores

Eh, There's tons of stuff in life I've been offered for free, but the whole "free is free", doesn't always mean "it's way better than anything else" kinda free. Plenty of stuff I'm just not into or wanted for free even. Free mints?, naw, free 10yr old game?, pass.

Gimme free money and well, anything that greatly benefits me and I'll gladly take those for nowt. Apart from that, I'll never be using their client, they set a very horrible first impression and they've since stuck with it, and Timmy boy don't care about me, but only the freebie and Fornite crowds, so I'll be sticking with Steam, GoG, Battlenet and Origin for my clients.

Timmy said that features aren't very intergral or important for PC gaming anyway, that's why they don't have a built in user forum, mod support, broadcasting, reviews, full gamepad support, screenshot support etc and more. That's also why we're seeing an influx of trolls and dolt shills from EGS, in the Steam forums, for all those free games, that magically do not work, or are busted, because EG don't care what state they arrive in, just like EA/Ubisoft. Still sitting here, a whole decade and a half later, with my C&C collection from Origin...that still doesn't work on Win 10, yet I can play many a game from GoG and Steam just fine. Heck, I still get freebies from both of those over time as well.

I just wish he'd stop with the pompous attitude, co-operate with the "competition", instead of seeking to overcome and destroy it, as well as putting way more focus on customers, features and services, as well as, y'know, making their very own 1st party games, instead of buying them up or buying up whatever Valve is trying to work with, to prevent them from doing anything (super dick move). I'd really sodding love that apology from Timmy boy himself, after all those yrs of mocking a platform he abandoned for years. Ubisoft owes us that too (still waiting, but I can't wait for that French company to topple if it doesn't come).

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
