You have to admit that they're taking their time with the game.
Elite: Dangerous was announced in 2011 and launched in 2014. Sure, it wasn't as ambitious as Star Citizen, but it's also an space themed MMO with spaceships where you can go wherever you want. And they did that with a lot less money than Cloud Imperium.
