Sorry totally disagree. FF7 was the last game that Sakaguchi had full control of in FF series. Needless to say it was well above 8-12 in terms of story and gameplay. Lost Odyssey was a brilliant game certainly more emotinal than FF7 and very very similar in gameplay with a few added tweaks(ring system). Blue Dragon was good not great, but the second post of his brings absolute warmth to me. I want the traditional JRPG's not the suedo realtime thingys(they can be good if done right IE not FF12). I couldnt care less if th review media mark traditional JRPG's down for not doing anything new, because that is the very reason I love the genre.

The game was marked down because Lost Odyssey wasn't as polished as it could have been, not because the gameplay was traditional. Dragon Quest VIII couldn't be more traditional in terms of game design yet it got very high reviews on both dies of the Pacific.
