If I remember correctly, Dirt 2 was a "Games for Windows" title at first and years later it could be activated for free on Steam by typing in the CD key.

Or games which can't be bought anymore on Steam aren't shown in the "time machine".

I'm 100% sure.

Back then I had no intention at all of going digital, and only installed Steam in order to use that voucher (after all, if I had it, I wasn't going to let it go waste).

And yes, it's a GFWL and, since it hasn't been patched, it no longer works as it doesn't save your progress and such. It's a shame because I really liked the game and, since I no longer could play it, I bought Dirt 3 to get some of the same fun but... well. let's say that the over the top X-games style of Dirt 3 isn't for me.
