I keep telling people every gen not to expect 60fps to become the standard. I've heard it so many times now, at every generational transition since the jump from PS1/N64 to PS2/Gamecube, "next gen will be 60fps standard" and it never happens because most third parties will always prioritize graphics. Heck, remember just 7 years ago when PS4/Xbone were gonna be 1080p/60fps standard? Look how that turned out. I'm fine with that though. I'm quite happy with 30fps for most games. |
At least framerate have become a lot more stable now and most genres that really have more critical need of 60fps are meeting it. But in the end we all know that for everything else upping the graphics will take preference over more framerate because that is what improve sales for those games.
