Civilization 6 is getting a new season pass with 6 DLC packs
https://www.pcgamer.com/civilization-6-is-getting-a-new-season-pass-with-6-dlc-packs/
Civilization 6 has been around since 2016, but 2K Games isn't done with it yet. Today the publisher unveiled the New Frontier Pass, a Civ 6 season pass that will deliver six new DLC packs, released bi-monthly, beginning with the Maya and Gran Colombia pack on May 21.
>> This new Season Pass is $40... I'm so glad I decided to wait until there's a complete edition to get this game.

Cassette Beasts is a Pokemon Fusion style RPG from former Chucklefish devs
https://www.pcgamer.com/pokemon-fusion-style-rpg-revealed-by-former-stardew-valley-devs/
You probably know Pokemon Fusion—the website where you can combine two Pokemon to create a brand new Frankenstein's Pokemon monster. Take a pinch of Pikachu and a dash of Diglett and you get Pikalett, a yellow, earless subterranean electricity monster. Adorable!
Enter Cassette Beasts, an open-world monster battler RPG that appears to be heavily inspired by Pokemon Fusion. In Cassette Beasts you explore the island of New Wirral, encountering monsters, battling them, and recording them on 1980s-style audio cassettes. The trailer, which is quite delightful, can be watched above.

Leeroy Jenkins, World of Warcraft's greatest meme, turns 15 today
https://www.pcgamer.com/leeroy-jenkins-world-of-warcrafts-greatest-meme-turns-15-today/
Leeroy Jenkins is easily PC gaming's most pervasive, long-standing joke. The original video, in which a group of World of Warcraft players prepare to tackle a deadly boss encounter in Upper Black Rock Spire but are undone by the bravado of one of their teammates, has been referenced in books, TV, and was even canonized by Blizzard itself. It's one of gaming's first-ever viral videos, and it turns 15 today.

Former Apex Legends devs launch new 'anti-crunch' studio
https://www.pcgamer.com/former-apex-legends-devs-launch-new-anti-crunch-studio/
In February, Apex Legends executive producer Drew McCoy left Respawn Entertainment after a ten-year stretch that also earned him producer credits on Titanfall and Titanfall 2. He didn't say what he'd be getting up to next, but assured his followers on Twitter that he wouldn't be able to stay away from games for long.
He sure wasn't kidding: McCoy and former Apex Legends lead software engineer Jon Shiring (who actually left Respawn a little ahead of McCoy) announced today that they've launched a new studio called Gravity Well, and that they hope to "shake things up" in big-budget game development.

Vikings TV show composer working on the Assassin's Creed Valhalla score
https://www.pcgamer.com/vikings-tv-show-composer-working-on-the-assassins-creed-valhalla-score/
According to the German Ubisoft Store, Norwegian musician and singer Einar "Kvitrafn" Selvik is one of Assassin Creed Valhalla's three composers. It's notable because Selvik composed music for 11 episodes of The History Channel's Vikings show, and is credited for vocals and "ancient Norse instruments" throughout the show's six seasons.

Disco Elysium will now run on very low-spec machines
https://www.pcgamer.com/disco-elysium-will-now-run-on-very-low-spec-machines/
When I tried to boot Disco Elysium on my ye olde Dell XPS 13 9360, I didn't have any luck. It's the kind of RPG that is well-suited to playing on a laptop, but preferably not an over size gaming laptop. Developers ZA/UM seem to get this, because they've just patched the game so that it will run on basically anything.
>> And they're not kidding.

Cancelled spin-off Terraria: Otherworld may see the light of day
https://www.pcgamer.com/cancelled-terraria-spin-off-otherworld-may-see-the-light-of-day/
Announced in 2015, Terraria: Otherworld was an alternate universe spin-off of the wildly successful main game. It was going to have "strategy and roleplaying" elements, as well as "purpose". Then in 2018 it was cancelled. Since then studio Relogic has continued adding to Terraria, culminating in next week's release of Journey's End, the game's biggest expansion yet. It will also be the last.
So it's fair to say that Otherworld is gone for good. But in a discussion on the official Terraria Discord server this week, Terraria creator Andrew Spinks, under the name redigit, gave fans of the abandoned game a little bit of hope.

Stellaris gets an anniversary update and is free to try all week
https://www.pcgamer.com/stellaris-gets-an-anniversary-update-and-is-free-to-try-all-week/
Stellaris, Paradox's massive 4X sandbox, turned four over the weekend. In the context of galaxies and the history of ancient species, that's a comparatively low number, but Paradox is celebrating it anyway with a visual update that spices up space with cosmic phenomena. You can take a look for free, too, between now and May 17.
>> And 75% off.

In The Fantastic Four, cosmic rays granted the titular quartet with incredible powers; in PlanetFriend they just make everyone extremely horny. The universe really is remarkable.
