So finally found out how to register physical games to get gold coins. I only got my Switch about 2 months ago so yeah... Turns out only 3 out of 7 of my games I could get coins for. The others expired like MK8 and Smash, etc. I know they came out a long time ago but kind of bs because I still bought them almost near full price at like 50 and 55 dollars new. I don't see why they have to expire if they keep the price near launch prices. Sure suppose to entice you to buy game when first comes out but it screws over new switch owners.

They expire after 24 months because Nintendo knows that physical buyers are smart. If four physical games expired for you, you've lost out on $2.40 at most. If you had bought them digitally, you'd have paid $59.99 each and got back $3.00 for each, so each game would have cost you $56.99. You paid less than that for your physical games, so you haven't really been screwed over.

If you remember back to Wii days. Those club Nintendo codes never expired to my knowledge.

I understand it is setup to favor digital buyers more.  Im just not going to pretend that it was better than club Nintendo days.  You might have gotten over 60 dollars off games yet I've gotten a total of about 3 dollars off.  Hey it's better than nothing but at this point they might as well give me nothing.
