I think that's just what the boards have to support. After all, most A320 boards seem to support Zen 2 chips just fine, and pretty much all B350 and X370 do, despite the slide saying they don't. In other words, you're probably fine with a B450/X470. First Gen boards have pretty small ROMs which might run into problems to fit the firmware for the new chips (which already created some problems with Zen 2 chips on cheaper models), but the second gen is probably fine. It might just take a while until the boards get an update with Zen 4000 support. |
Here's hoping. If nothing else, least this will give AMD and the Motherboard Vendors a lesson on how much space they might need for future BIOS's when moving onto AM5.
