Tales of Berseria and Yakuza 0 are must play games IMO. Zesteria I didn't enjoy. If it wasn't for the fact that I was really really in the mood to play a standard JRPG with anime tropes I would have never got to the end. Never even beat it go to the very last boss and just stopped playing. |

Zestiria had some problems. You were the same characters pretty much the whole time. Plus you were forced to use two characters to use two other characters. That said - its connection to Berseria makes it a must place. It takes Berseria from an A to an S, or even S+. The story, the characters that general connection between present and future makes it worth it. |

Haven't played Berseria, but Yakuza 0 is a fantastic experience. Especially if it's your first in the series. I usually link to this guys thoughts for anyone interested in the game. |
I caved and bought the games. I really shouldn't have but, oh well! I don't think Yakuza 0 goes down to $10 often (I know the other games are on sale all the time, but at this point it's a meme for me to criticize the lack of 0 being on sale, so I had to scoop it up now that it was). Also I know Zestiria and Berseria are connected , if it was on sale I probably would have gotten that instead of 0 just for greater context for Berseria. But alas, it was not meant to be. I know someone is going to be particularly mad that I got Berseria first.

Or, if you want a Yakuza-type experience, but find getting into the series daunting, try Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise. The story/world are quite different, but the gameplay is basically Yakuza + Ultraviolence. |
I was an idiot and bought Kiwami before 0, so I technically already have an excuse to play Yakuza. And I didn't see this in time anyways. Sorry : (
