Why would any rational person blame Square? Square made the best decision of their entire history by siding with Sony, propelling FF to heights never before seen from a third party Japanese game, reaching a global audience and massively boosting nearly all their properties.
Most people already know it be Nintendo's fault. It was their own conservatism and arrogance that ultimately led to nearly every third party leaving them for Sony and cementing Playstation as the market leader. Its a great lesson in being humble and not taking things for granted.
