If you are going to do this, just know Xbox based their controllers entirely on the Dreamcast and Saturn 3D pad. Using the SEGA colored buttons. Placement of ABYX. The shape and almost included a VMU function when using Dreamcasts as focus test consoles when developing the Xbox. So with your loose logic,let's just give credit to SEGA here. But wait! Nintendo started the diamond pattern. Super Famicom had the colored buttons. PS1 controller was based on the SNES controller. Xbox controller design, which I’m aware is taken inspiration from elsewhere has remained consistent since 360 days. Where as the DualShock design is now officially obsolete. Take that as you will.
