Wednesday news, part two:

The Catch makes fishing look like a Hitman mission
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-catch-makes-fishing-look-like-a-hitman-mission/
Dovetail Fishing's latest fishing sim, The Catch, wants to make it very clear that fishing is a Herculean task that involves wrestling with the beefiest monsters ever to sport gills. Naturally, a trailer evocative of Hitman or Ghost Recon is necessary to convey just how intense and serious it is.

https://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warcraft-shadowlands-alpha-starts-this-week/
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, the eighth expansion, isn't due out until some time this summer, but Blizzard just announced that its closed alpha will begin later this week. Though invites will be mostly limited to "long-time WoW players with active accounts in good standing," this will also be the first opportunity for players to datamine Shadowlands and find out new details that Blizzard hasn't yet discussed.

You can now do real science in Borderlands 3, of all places
https://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-now-do-real-science-in-borderlands-3-of-all-places/
In March, we turned your attention to a game called Foldit, developed by researchers at the University of Washington, that has players fold protein chains to create new structures with changed functions in order to help with the development of treatments for diseases like HIV, cancer, Alzheimer's, and even COVID-19. (...) It's kind of hard to believe, but now Borderlands 3—a fun shooter but, with all due respect, not exactly the most intellectually weighty endeavor of all time—is doing something similar. Borderlands Science, announced today with a flashy trailer featuring Dr. Mayim Bialik, the Emmy-nominated co-star of Big Bang Theory who is also actually holds a doctorate in neuroscience, is a minigame in Borderlands 3 in which players solve colored block puzzes based on DNA strands in order to help scientists compare and map microbes—a job that computers are apparently not very good at.

Apex Legends won't get permanent Solos mode because it 'negatively impacted' the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-wont-get-permanent-solos-mode-because-it-negatively-impacted-the-game/
Respawn recently brought Duos back to Apex Legends as a permanent game mode, after running it as a temporary thing in a few times in 2019. The everyone-for-themselves Solos mode won't be getting the same treatment, however, as Electronic Arts said today that it just doesn't fit with the game's underlying co-op elements.

Obsidian's shrunken survival game Grounded is coming in July
https://www.pcgamer.com/obsidians-shrunken-survival-game-grounded-is-coming-in-july/
Grounded is a survival game being developed by Obsidian Entertainment in which children, shrunk to a very tiny size, try to survive in their suddenly very large and dangerous back yard. But aside from that basic setup—honey, I shrunk the kids, and now they're in danger of being eaten by ants—we really haven't had much insight into what's going on, or when (aside from a very vague "spring 2020") it will be out.

Sea of Thieves adding cats (in hats) and a new trading company in next update
https://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-cats-update/
Brands: They surround us, they lead us, they define us. And in that spirit of corporate cheerleading, the next Sea of Thieves update, Ships of Fortune, will give players the opportunity to fly the flags of their favorite in-game trading companies—the Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, Order of Souls, and Athena's Fortune—and, naturally, earn increased rewards and unique cosmetics for their service.

Planet Zoo's South America DLC is out now, adds five new animals
https://www.pcgamer.com/planet-zoos-south-america-dlc-is-out-now-adds-five-new-animals/
Planet Zoo's latest DLC is out and adds five new animals and a bunch of new scenery pieces all inspired by South America to the zoo building sim.
The South America Pack adds jaguars, llamas, anteaters, red-eyed tree frogs, and capuchin monkeys into the animal mix, and 250 new Aztec and jungle-inspired scenery pieces to your park. Players have already been hard at work creating some creative habitats, like Zooflencer's ancient temple for the capuchin monkeys.
>> And that'swhy I won't get this game anytime soon, because there'll be lots of animal DLCs that Iwould hate to not have.
