I never played the original, but I was hoping they'd do a Remaster/Remake/Whatever for the 10th anniversary. The two different versions from my understanding was just a replacement of the main character to be the father of the girl instead of the brother, in the Xbox 360 (in Japan) and western release.
I like the brother's design a lot more. Which is also the original design. The father character was only created because they didn't think western fans would like the younger design as much. And I don't fall into that category, so I prefer getting Replicant, which was the original vision anyway. "The developers believed that the Japanese audience would respond more strongly to a younger protagonist, while non-Japanese audiences would prefer an adult Nier character.[32] Other than changing Nier's appearance and modifying a few lines of dialogue to fit with Nier being a father rather than a brother to Yonah, the developers made no changes between the two versions;[5] while it was initially believed that the older Nier was the character's original design,[5] an interview with Yoko clarified that the young Nier was the original vision." |
Platinum are not working on it. It is being developed by the studio that made Contra: Rogue Corps which is not good news tbh. But, they would be supervised by Takahisa Taura from Platinum who was the main game designer of Nier: Automata and director of Astral Chain.

Papa nier is middle-aged,typically in anime 30 years old is 60 years old lol. So it was nice to go against the norm. Not to mention the English cast were excellent. |
Agree. The father motivation seems to suit the plot better, but as I haven't played Replicant version I can't judge it. I think it's great that they've chosen Replicant though, I have Gestalt on 360, so playing Replicant would also be nice.
