Not sure if we're seeing the same things here. All I see is regular selfish, crazy and stupid people doing selfish, crazy and stupid things. With or without their governments. This situation will literally change absolutely nothing about humans. If anything it'll affect the governments.
Once this thing is over people will just go back and do harm somewhere else.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
