Guys I can't make a thread yet, don't have enough posts. Long time lurker lol.

But here's probably the best place to ask.

How does Game Pass work? I know, I know. What a noob question - but I've been really out of touch this gen. Pumped for next gen and was looking to catch up on some games.

If I get Game Pass can I potentially download Hellblade, Outer Worlds, Gears 4/5 and play them all just by subscribing to Game Pass? If so, once I stop my subscription I'm assuming they all go away? As long as I'm subscribed I have access?

If so, that's freakin OP.
That would be awesome - but I have a feeling I'm missing something?

That is exactly how it works.

As long as a game is on Gamepass, you can play it with an active subscription.

Games like Gears and Outer Worlds that are owned by Microsoft are likely to be on Gamepass forever. Third party games rotate on and off (but they generally seem to be on for at least 6-12 months, and many have just been there forever). New games get added every couple of weeks.

And your first month of Gamepass can usually be purchased for $1, reverting to the normal price after that. In the US, normal price is $10 per month (or, $15 for ultimate, which includes Xbox Gold).

Some notes:

  1. You will be unable to play games obtained through Gamepass if you stop paying the subscription
  2. Even if you have already downloaded a game, it will be unplayable if it gets removed from Gamepass - they generally notify us in advance that a game is going. If that happens you normally have the option to buy the game at a discount.
  3. Gamepass members get discounts on DLC, but generally DLC is not included for free under Gamepass, unless they add GoTY editions of games
  4. Other games currently on Gamepass include GTAV and Witcher 3 (which were both added recently and should be there for quite a while).
