Friday news, the last part:
Dying Light's new Story Mode makes the game much easier
https://www.pcgamer.com/dying-lights-new-story-mode-makes-the-game-much-easier/
Despite being more than five years old, Dying Light just keeps on getting updates. The latest introduces a whole new difficulty setting for free runners who prefer to focus on the game's story.
Apex Legends is bringing back its original map for the weekend
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-is-bringing-back-its-original-map-for-the-weekend/
Kings Canyon was the first, and during the first two seasons, only map in Apex Legends. It went through a number of changes over those seasons, but the start of season 3 brought a brand-new map to fight on called World's Edge, and that was that for Kings Canyon. But starting tomorrow—and just for a little while—the canyon is coming back.
Kerbal Space Program 2 moves to a new studio
https://www.pcgamer.com/kerbal-space-program-2-moves-to-a-new-studio/
Kerbal Space Program has come a long way since its initial public release in 2011. It went to Steam Early Access in 2013, made a full launch in 2015, and was acquired (along with developer Squad) by Take-Two in 2017. A sequel was announced last year, being developed by a different studio, Star Theory Games, but that plan has now changed somewhat: Take-Two said today that development of Kerbal Space Program 2 has been taken over by a new studio founded under its boutique "indie" publishing label Private Division.
Unleash your inner Flyboy in Dakka Squadron, a Warhammer 40K Ork flight sim
https://www.pcgamer.com/unleash-your-inner-flyboy-in-dakka-squadron-a-warhammer-40k-ork-flight-sim/
There are a lot of Warhammer games out there, especially if you take Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K as one great lump of grimdark, as I generally do. There are shooters and strategy and space combat and even sports, but one thing we haven't seen yet (as far as I know, anyway) is a flight sim.
You can now consider that niche filled, courtesy of Dakka Squadron, announced today by developer Phosphor Games. Somewhat improbably, to non-Warhammer fans at least, the game will focus on the Orks, the green-skinned lunatics who make up Warhammer 40K's most wildly warlike (and funniest) faction. (That's also where the name comes from.)
Bungie details a big ol' bunch of nerfs coming to Destiny 2 in the next season
https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-details-a-big-ol-bunch-of-nerfs-coming-to-destiny-2-in-the-next-season/
The latest This Week at Bungie update doesn't reveal the name of Destiny 2's next season, I'm sorry to say, but it does offer a look at some of the changes coming to weapons when it begins in March. It doesn't sound like the adjustments will be as dramatic as the recently-announced overhaul of swords, but various archetypes will undergo "finer tuning" for the advent of the new season, impacting damage values, range, and even aspects like reload cancelling.
Explore a surreal underworld in free sci-fi adventure Remnants
https://www.pcgamer.com/explore-a-surreal-underworld-in-free-sci-fi-adventure-remnants/
Now I know where all the colours went during the Unreal Engine 3 era. They were pinched, and stored in the subterranean facility you find yourself exploring during Remnants. How else to explain the vibrant, possibly even forbidden colour palette of this gorgeous top-down adventure game?
Dota Underlords update highlights changes from beta to Early Access
https://www.pcgamer.com/dota-underlords-update-highlights-changes-from-the-beta-to-early-access/
With the announcement of Dota Underlords official release date Valve has uploaded a new blog post update explaining what's shipping in Season 1 and details about a celebratory launch party. The autobattler launched on Steam back in June and will be leaving Early Access on February 25.
