And it is still losing the poll...the Spin offs and the films are irrelevant to the greatness of the actual game. I agree the story and music are better than OoTs but that's about the only things that have a good argument. To be fair, FFVII is the one RPG that really kick started the Fan Faction boom of the late 90s, not game before it or since has drawn as many players to its story and characters, but as game Ocarina was the superior piece of software. There is no shame in that,  it still holds the Metacritic record (OoT), no other game has beaten it either.

This poll is one sided because the forum is comprised of mostly Nintendo fans. I know, I been here for a very long time, and nothing is wrong with their opinion. But to say the spin offs and films is irrelevant is a poor excuse because again, you can't compete with story that expands beyond the game.

EDIT:

The story and music is the only good thing about FFVII?

Man... FFVII even have RTS.

Snowboarding.

A fighting game

Submarine mini game

motorbike mini game

And even an FPS game..

edit again: if we have a more comprehensive way to rank each element of both these games in terms of story, music, and fun factor, I think it'll be more interesting.

Punch Out has all of those things I mentioned except one.  And a lot of people would not consider that to be a fighting game.  Punch Out has at least some of the traits of most fighting games.  This minigame has none.

Also, Punch Out is actually fun.  You skipped that part of the post.

Edit:  You said "The story and music is the only good thing about FFVII?

And then brought up this game as a response to your own question.  Anyone with basic reading comprehension would assume you meant that this was a "good thing about FFVII"?  But apparently... you just were listing random things FFVII had?  Like, what?

And nothing about this post is toxic at all.  I'm posting reasons I disagree with you, in I think a pretty neutral and respectful tone.  If you think there's something wrong with the post, go hit the report button.

You really should not talk about reading comprehension because I was addressing someone's statement, not answering my own question.

First of.. Regardless of what people think of Punch Out, it is a fighting game, just like another classic Karate Champ. Both fighting games with different controls, and different rules..

Uhhhhh... dude.  The post is right there.  You posed the question.  The you immediately went into examples. I mean. It's right there, look at it.

I'm not taking a stance about Punch Out being a fighting game.  But as I pointed out, that game lets you move and attack in real time.  Which are pretty important traits of fighting game.

So,  Like actually answer the question.  What makes this a fighting game?   And why is it relevant to "good things about FFVII" whether you posed the question or were responding to a statement.
