It can be used as one. In the context of the article, yes it was.
Perhaps it's why the person who used it then proceed to become rather defensive after I shifted goal posts as a joke to indicate they might be one.
I felt as though it read like a joke but perhaps they misunderstood. Either way, their reaction indicated their interpretation of the word.
If someone were to call me one... Hmm... Depending on who you are and where it's done, I'd say I'd either be very slightly bothered or not bothered at all.
