The majority of the US want to get rid of Trump, but the real problem for democrats is that they are so divided while the republicans are rather united in their support for Trump.
If Biden would win the democratic primary, many would not vote for him, probably for the same reasons why people didn't vote for Hillary. The same might happen when Sanders becomes the dem's nominee because of the "socialist"/"communist" stigma (not that Sanders is actually a communist by any stretch or full on socialist).

The republicans have a good chance of winning, not because the majority of the US support them (they don't), but because the democrats are so divided and don't seem to have a candidate that can really unite them (let alone unite the US at large).
If Trump wins again, I think we'll be looking at a huge downturn within the US but also globally. If the dems win 2020, the first thing they have to do is make huge political reforms. The ridiculous electoral college will need to go, first and foremost. 1 vote should be worth exactly 1 vote, regardless of where you live.
