Well... there you have it xD

I don't know... I don't see Nintendo selling IPs. Not even IPs they don't care about. They have the rights of games like Hotel Dusk, Startropics, Code Name Steam, the already mentioned Eternal Darkness and The Last Story... They don't use them, but they don't seem to want to let anyone have them either.

In fact, the Eternal Darkness case is interesting for this topic, because the original developers have tried multiple times to buy the IP from Nintendo... with no success.

So... while almost everything is possible in this crazy world we live in... this particular case of Platinum buying TW101 from Nintendo or Nintendo allowing them to do a Kickstarter to do a port not only for the Switch, but PS4 and One as well seems VERY unlikely.

What we're left with is the good suggestion that @Nautilus made, that Platinum Games might be making Bayonetta 3 for an unusually low payment in exchange for the full IP rights to TW101. Because that's one aspect that greatly differs from IPs like Eternal Darkness and The Last Story: Nintendo's continual willingness to work with the developer in question, so that allows for an unprecedented change in Nintendo's IP policy to happen.

It must be PG getting the full IP rights to TW101 because otherwise the Kickstarter proposal of versions for non-Nintendo consoles wouldn't make sense.

While that is definetly an option (it's common bussiness exchange)... I see problems with that as well. Bayonetta 3 has been in developement for almost three years now. It seems unlikely for this exchange to have taken place a short time ago or at the beginning of Bayo 3 developement. Why would they start now the Kickstarter if the deal was made at the beginning or during the Bayo 3 developement? They could have done this years ago. And if this deal is recent, it doesn't make sense because as I said, Bayo 3 has been in development for years. It is clear that the money was already there from the beginning. Also, the Tencent money injection would in theory allow them to not need a Kickstarter to begin with.

I don't know. I gues everything is possible, but I see so much things wrong with this rumor that I don't think its real. But hey, we'll know in the next hours xD
