launch aligned PS3 was always ahead of X360. And great jab on the BR player, your brother in law paid 300 USD for a BD player when he could have bought for 50 if he gone for a BD player only. Are you going to do the opposite way and claim that most Xbox360 owners had to buy 4 systems so in fact PS3 outsold X360 4:1? |
Sorry but I got nostalgic when I read “launch aligned”. That was a very popular argument back in the day to mask being last place for the first time in the brands history.
Thing is there is no fair head start in business. Sometimes a competitor beats you to the punch at launching a product. The gen starts when they start. PS3 sold a grand total of 0 units from Nov 2005- Nov 2006 and they played a slow game of catch-up for 7 years. Japan was literally the only thing that allowed it to edge to second place right at the end of the gen.
It’s not fair, it’s just business. And with people buying multiple Xbox’s, I’d argue that’s a testament to the console itself...people would rather buy multiple 360s then switch to PS3.
On topic, launching head to head means Xbox Series X will loose. But it won’t be a landslide either like this gen, they seem to know their priorities this time around.
