It follows the alternating cycle of crappy/good/crappy/good Windows releases which has been true for a while now. I fully expect Windows 11 to be awful.

Lol yeah that has seem to have been the case since at least Windows 98.

I think I'll stick with Windows 10 for a while, that one's been decent enough. Well, actually I'm sticking with my Macbook but my secondary computer will probably stay Windows 10 for a while.

EDIT: @your edit, well with that picture yeah maybe we should say at least since Windows 3.1 lol, though I'd say 95 was the least terrible one of the terrible ones.

EDIT 2: Though I was young when I used 95, I may not be remembering it well enough to know, used 3.1 in the past as well, but that was incidental.
