https://www.pcgamer.com/mortal-kombat-11s-joker-seems-to-be-teasing-injustice-3/
The Joker is joining the Mortal Kombat 11 roster soon, but he's already been getting up to mischief, with one of the lines in his gameplay trailer sparking speculation that he's referring to Injustice 3, NetherRealm's DC spin-off.

https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstones-lunar-new-year-event-begins-next-week/

Hearthstone Battlegrounds gets new heroes: a good one, and a less good one
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-battlegrounds-gets-new-heroes-a-good-one-and-a-less-good-one/
Two new heroes were added to Hearthstone Battlegrounds yesterday: Tirion Fordring, who seems pretty good, and Millhouse Manastorm, who seems kind of bad. That assessment could change as cleverer players discover tricks I've missed, but for now, I recommend avoiding Millhouse (unless you want to prove me wrong) and giving Tirion a try.

Valve is 'confident' Half-Life: Alyx won't be delayed
https://www.pcgamer.com/valve-is-confident-half-life-alyx-wont-be-delayed/
Half-Life: Alyx doesn't have a firm release date yet—it's still listed as "Coming March 2020" on Steam. Given that we'll soon be wheeling into the last week of January, that lack of specificity may not inspire great confidence that it won't be delayed. Valve says that's not likely to happen, though, because the game is now effectively complete.

Legends of Runeterra beta won't wipe player progress according to its new patch notes
https://www.pcgamer.com/legends-of-runeterra-beta-wont-wipe-player-progress-according-to-its-new-patch-notes/
Legends of Runeterra heads to open beta on Friday (or tomorrow, if you meet certain restrictions), but Riot Games has gone ahead and dropped the patch notes for the new release a few days early. One of the biggest highlights, though, is that players who participate in the beta won't have to fear losing their cards, rank, or saved currencies. Once Legends of Runeterra is live, Riot won't be wiping player accounts for the full launch later this year.

Homeworld 3 studio Blackbird Interactive is working on something new
https://www.pcgamer.com/homeworld-3-studio-blackbird-interactive-is-working-on-something-new/
Gearbox Publishing revealed at PAX West last year that Blackbird Interactive, the developer of the 2016 RTS Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak—and founded by veterans of original Homeworld studio Relic Entertainment—was working on a new, back-into-space Homeworld game. A very successful Fig campaign followed, and a little over a month ago the studio laid out its plans for the game.
But that's apparently not the only thing Blackbird is working on.

Paradox is testing a subscription service for Europa Universalis 4
https://www.pcgamer.com/paradox-is-testing-a-subscription-service-for-europa-universalis-4/
Europa Universalis IV released seven years ago, and since then it's amassed a frankly intimidating amount of post-launch content. It's a fairly common predicament when it comes to Paradox's strategy games: as they grow over time, knowing what to buy and what to ignore is hard for new players. But Paradox has a plan to make that process a bit easier.

Wasteland Remastered will release next month
https://www.pcgamer.com/wasteland-remastered-will-release-next-month/
Announced back in 2018, Wasteland Remastered is a substantial upgrade to the original '80s RPG. Originally scheduled to release last year, the game will finally launch on February 25 on Steam, GOG and the Windows Store (it'll also release for Xbox One).

Unending is the free sequel to excellent roguelike puzzler Ending
https://www.pcgamer.com/unending-is-the-free-sequel-to-excellent-roguelike-puzzler-ending/
When is a roguelike a puzzle game? When is a strategy game a roguelike? The answer is Ending, one of the best roguey-puzzley-strategy games released in the last few years. Ending is excellent, and it's just got a surprise sequel in the form of Unending, which is Ending but endless, as you might have guessed.

Nioh 2 gets gloomy in a new trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/nioh-2-trailer-to-premiere-tomorrow/
Nioh publisher Koei Tecmo recently announced that a brand new Nioh 2 trailer would premiere on January 23, 2020. The trailer is due to go live at 10 pm JST/1 pm GMT.
Update: The new story trailer is out now, so give it a watch above. 16th century Japan doesn't look too cheery, but you'll have plenty of duels to take your mind off the "misery and madness of endless war." Hopefully we'll get news about a PC port after it launches on PS4 in March.

https://www.pcgamer.com/hideo-kojima-wants-to-work-on-smaller-games-and-manga/
In the latest issue of Famitsu, Kojima Productions' Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa went on a nostalgic trip through Death Stranding's development, but they also took the time to spitball some ideas and tease the possible direction of the studio now that its first game is out of the way.
