Not the Direct we wanted, but it's the Direct we deserve. I'm sure the general one will show up as Pokemon Directs always coincide with it so this doesn't bother me. Perhaps we'll actually get a much needed Sw/Sh patch/update beyond Pokemon Home maybe!? Too optimistic, will likely be mostly about Home, the subscription service on top of a subscription service that's supposed to already give you cloud saves.
I don't think we'll see Ultra Sw/Sh or Gen 4 remakes here, too soon after Sw/Sh released to announce and that would make it 5 years in a row we get a new mainline Pokemon. Not impossible though, how close in proximity to Sw/Sh really makes no difference, we already know it would release in the holidays, and completely annualizing the series would further explain some things.

That is correct, we can expect games to release in pairs always from now on. Frankly it's not a big deal, the majority of their releases already had 2 versions, and it's not like you have to buy both versions especially now with online trading.
