Less than an hour ago, a Ukrainian Airlines flight crashed 8 minutes after taking off from Tehran's international airport. All 180 passengers and crew on board are presumed dead. A brief video on Twitter shows the airplane on fire as it descends in the distance and crashes. The current statement from local media in Iran says it was a 'technical issue'. It's just passed dawn there now and photos show the crash location to be largely an unpopulated area. All this tension in the region, the Ukrainian connection and now this. I really hope it's unrelated to either current events. |
