There was an article a few days ago saying that Platinum had big announcements. I already predicted that they would go full on 3rd party after the release of Bayo 3. There was also a thread about it a few days ago. I think I said the same thing there.

Thats the conclusion I drew too.
More multiplat games from them, less contract exclusives for nintendo going forwards.

This might actually not be a bad thing for PS5 and XB2 users.

The only way I could see this being a bad thing is if they somehow yanked Bayo 3 from being a Switch exclusive. But I'm pretty sure Nintendo has some kind of monetary control over that. A 3rd party dev going 3rd party is great so long as they don't step all over previous exclusivity contracts. Square Enix used Nintendo to publish Octopath, and then promptly sent it over to PC. It was like they had their hand out asking for help with the game, and then walked away giving a middle finger to Nintendo. Square Enix published other games to Switch on their own, and they should have done the same with Octopath. Instead they baited Nintendo to save costs, while still charging a full $60 for what should have been a $50 game.

Anyway, Platinum makes the kind of games that should be on all platforms, so like you said this will be a good thing. Some game series like the Souls series, and Monster Hunter are held back by being on a single system.

Edit: What really should have happened with Octopath is that Square Enix should have self published it to both PC and Switch day and date for a reasonable $50 asking price. Instead they got Nintendo to foot the bill for packaging, shipping, and cartridges, something that they could have easily paid for on their own.
