Does the "coded to metal" buzzword make a difference, though? I mean, current gen consoles are outperformed in multiplats by contemporary lesser, smaller GPUs like the 260X or the 750 Ti.

And don't go on thinking the 3.2 GHz or whatever the next gen consoles will bring is anything but boost clocks as well. The core clock for the Gonzalo chip being tested in Taiwan is reported as being half of that, or 1.6 GHz, after all.
