It doesnt answer my question though. No one else is making or even trying to make an MLB game. Having a high quality game, even exclusive, is better than no game at all.

Hence, why would they play hard ball in this scenario? Basically, I question whether this move by Sony is because they were forced to. But maybe it is as simple as MLB deciding to remove the licence. Seema like quite the gamble imho.

During negotiations Both parties most likely looked at stagnating sales and with the PS5 around the corner and a changing gaming world,with crossplay streaming etc, decided it would be in their best interests to expand onto other platforms and this outcome was the  best and easiest way for this to be done, and since this seems a sensible enough idea,I don't think any coercion was needed from the MLB if they were pushing it,for all we know Sony themselves might have mooted the idea.
