That'd be neat, but I'd love if he worked on it over the years, rather than teasing it and showing off footage years too early, because it sours and puts me off wanting said game.

That would be a great idea. The problem is gamers and fans love teasing

That's the thing though, it becomes a double edged sword, because while some of them may love teasing for years on end, some of us get entirely put off by the time the game is close to release.

I've felt like this in regards to FFXV, RDR2, Death Stranding and more. I just don't like endless teasing and snippets, and the hype train forcing itself along for years on end. In the end it just becomes ever so tiring and for those that can just flip a switch and remain endlessly patient, while demanding more teaser sauce, more power to them, but I'd love an endless supply myself.

I feel it was much better in the old days, when we got announcements ranging from 1 year to 6 months, sometimes even 3 months, because back then the hype could still be fresh and you wouldn't be waiting for years on end for the final product, because it was already being worked on, but under wraps.

It's the same old, same old with movies. We get a note that a sequel is in the works, but for at least 2-3 years we see nothing. We start seeing trailers at least 8-12 months from release, but with games it can span at least 4-5 years on end. Movies still have it right, but gaming seems to have gone 20 steps backwards, expecting everyone to be filled with hype energy 5 years down the road. I'm more likely to go buy something else by the time said hyped game for 5 years decides to get off it's arse.

Like, look at R* on Twitter "huehue, RDR2 finally coming to Steam on Dec 10th, ahyuk hyuk!", but meanwhile I'm here playing AoE II Def ED, and now Halo Reach is out, why on earth should I bother paying full price for a port that's still riddled with bugs and demands more from me, when I could get two remasters for a much cheaper price, that are readily available to me now?. The answer is nothing, because R* chose EGS cash and chose to milk consoles for a year, which in turn gets a flip of the bird and no interest from me, because they chose the hype train.

Like if you're gonna do something, fucking do it, don't baulk and snake oil me with words, or I'll just go to someone else and end up sticking with them more often, because they chose to give me the time of day. This is something I want AAA pubs/devs to actually learn once and for all, but they won't, because "I want all the money".
