John Carmack, who was recently announced as the recipient of the first-ever Accenture VR Lifetime Achievement Award, has announced that he is stepping back from VR development. Carmack said in a Facebook post that, as of this week, he'll transition to "Consulting CTO" at Oculus VR—until now he was the regular, everyday CTO—which will enable him to have a voice in future development, while only taking up "a modest slice of my time."

Another Fortnite play tester is facing legal action for leaking details related to the battle royale's Chapter 2 content update. According to Global News, Epic Games has filed a claim against play tester Lucas Johnston for his alleged leaking of a screenshot taken during his period of employment at Keywords Studios, where the play testing was carried out.

Yesterday, one day after the launch of its long-anticipated Viking action game Rune 2, Human Head Studios announced it was closing its doors, with its employees all accepting jobs with Bethesda. The news came as a surprise—even to Rune 2's publisher, Ragnarok.
The publisher says it plans to continue supporting Rune 2 despite Human Head's sudden closure, and has released an official statement.
