Has VAR overturned a card yet? It's helped given them out (as per saints game) but until it overturns a ref decision to not give a card, then it will never be used fully. If it's going to be used to overturn goals then it also needs to be used on EVERY penalty decision as well but it never will be because that slows down the game. Thre was a yellow for card in a game I watched a little bit ago, didn't look like a dive to me, more of a falling over but the player got a yellow for it. VAR would look back and may say "Nah he just tripped, no foul but no dive." But don't think that would happen as the card has been given. A goal can change the game and will be overturned. A red card can change it more but won't be. |
I think a straight red can be overturned by VAR. But if a player is already on a yellow and ref makes a decision to give another yellow, it won't be checked by VAR. I might be wrong though.
Referee simply should see the video himself like they did in World Cup. He makes the final decision anyway? Of course this won't stop them from making stupid decisions.. fuck it, they should just check offsides and red cards.
