If you ask me, if i were Sony, i would launch GT Sport, Dreams and Bloodborne on PC too. Those are games that will work wonders on PC expanding the playstation brand to PC exclusive users. You have already sold lots of PS4's..., so why not trying to atract users from other platforms to PS games so maybe they begin to be interested on PS5??.

I mostly agree with what you have said but I'm not sure this is what is going to happen with these games. DS going to PC was most likely the only way to secure a console exclusive from Kojima, and that alone is worth it. Dreams could move because it is essentially a development tool; Bloodborne could too cause the only PS games published by Sony are from 3rd party studios though Japan Studios worked on the game too, so maybe not. GT Sport I doubt will happen: in house projects will remain in house I believe.

Still, it really depends on Sony's next outside collaborated project, of a large scale, to see if this was a one time deal with Kojima, or if it is their strategy going forward.

He will work for another 10-20 years easily.

Naughty Dog was bought by Sony early own based on the recognition of the heads of the studio.

Why would you wait 10 years and pay more for it, already without the leader, instead of buying now for cheap and participate in the growing of the studio?

Sure, he could.

Were they? Did the heads have the same clout Kojima has with gamers in general at the time? I am willing to believe not even remotely close. And again, that is the issue. Ppl only care about Kojima Productions because of Kojima, and that is not something to bank on in the long term. Something happens to him, or the relationship with Sony goes awry, and that is it for the studio.

With Kojima wanting to make Death Stranding sequels, and already having the Decima Engine running well and making a new IP in such a short time, I doubt Kojima just moves to someone else to make games. They have a solid foundation with the work they have done and it will just be easier from here on out with the same tools.

Why would they wait 10 years to buy it without Kojima? Because like you said the talent in the studio can grow. If Kojima Productions can critically and commercially viable games without direct input from Kojima, then the studio has transcended it's creator himself. Then the studio actually has long term viability. Until then it is just Kojima. And making deals with the studio makes more financial sense imo.

But hey, maybe they pick him up before the year is up. I'm good either way.

Public may not know the heads of the studio (even though Druckman is somewhat famous nowadays), but Sony invested in the studio because of the heads and the content they were creating.

Buying (or making the studio for Kojima from the ground) Kojima Production would mostly be for the guy's name sure, but after the game release and it is well done and well received the studio is good, because Kojima don't do everything alone even if he touches everything. Besides buying a studio that can have his steering for 10 years is basically assuring it for 2 gens and sure work on succession plan that perhaps Kojima alone wouldn't care because he would retire.
