Have they sign any contract stating that and how would they compensate anyone if they shut it down? If not it is just empty words from PR mouths.

I have to agree. While I think it is a good sign that they are publicly committing to support the service for at least 10 years, the words don't really mean much.

Google's plans are for the service to be successful, in which case of course they will support it for 10 years.  But, they are a business that exists to make money. If the service isn't doing well, it wouldn't make sense for them to pour money into a black hole for a decade.

There are some precedents for companies giving refunds to people when they shut down services. Somebody did it for something in the last year or two, but I can't remember who or what service that was.  I think an explicit public commitment from Google that they will refund people if they shut the service down within X number of years from the time they purchase a game would be a good move.  That would be a legally enforceable contract, at least in the US.

"Public committing" having intention to keep the service for 10 years isn't the same as guaranteeing it. They need something more biding for me to give any credibility to their promise to keep the service.

And considering they aren't console maker bound by generation (where Sony promising to support PS3 or PS4 for 10 years mean that even after the next console arrives they will keep producing consoles and there will be some new games available, besides of course the console doesn't simply stop working because next gen came) they have no excuse for shutting down the service, they may upgrade the HW whenever there is a need.

And you would be paying the same price for the game but to have a last gen performance "anywhere", but that if the service is out you don't play at all (or if internet isn't stable).

Also are we totally positive they won't charge anything for MP?

Stadia GPU is stronger tha PS4 Pro and XBOX One X, 10 Tflop makes it basically a next gen GPU.

And you just gone there and ignored that the person was talking about not paying for the 4k and getting 1080p, yes that is totally next gen.

Stadia is guaranted to function for at least 10 years. It doesn't make sense in 10 years Google has to refund everyone if they shut it down. If it was like 1-2 years until shut down, ok.

Guaranteed? Did you receive a signed contract stating that and how much they will pay you if they close the service?

If you buy the games when the system have gone for 9 years and 6 months and they shut down you would be still in similar situation as they shutting down in 1-2 years. If they want to make serious of their promise they would have to at least keep the service for 2 years after they stop accepting new purchases of the service or games on the service, just like your MP games usually have the server going either several years after the sequel arrived or after gen change.

It is a hardware rental service. $840 over 7 years, got it.

Ps4 pro: $400
7 years of PSN: $420
Total: $820

Price is about the same. Except Stadia can do mid generation upgrades without an increase in pricing to the consumer, PlayStation can't.  Stadia can be taken anywhere, playstation can't.

I am not arguing in favor the Stradia, but pointing out people underestimate the cost of consoles.  I can only speak for myself personally:

ps4: $350

ps4 pro upgrade: $400

5 years of PSN: $300

I'm $1050 in....  in 5 years.  Stadia pricing doesn't seem that bad.  I'm still nervous about streaming and not downloading.

Besides you being able to buy PS+ with hefty discounts or that more than half the customers don't buy the service (and certainly among them several don't buy it for the online but for the discounts and gift games) so you are using one situation to paint all.

If you want to factor in HW cost of PS on the equation you also have to factor in the price of capable enough HW to run Stadia, and as mentioned it would right to count also the cost of internet increase (if you live in a place with datacap or costly internet, but despite you putting the highest cost scenario for playstation, you didn't for Stadia).

Also you are just comparing renting vs owning (that will be permanent and exist besides the 7 years timeframe, or can be gifted or sold to buy new HW).

You don't need to upgrade your HW during a console generation, the benefits PS4Pro and X1X brought weren't really that significant (and many people that upgraded sold their older console).

Considering the internet quality in Brazil several people that decide to get the service will get a little displeased.

Free online with Stadia. Just gotta put up with dying to input lag or "input prediction".

lol Playing games in 1080 in 2020 will be like playing games in 720 in 2015. The free version of Stadia needs to at least offer 1440p.

There are other costs with Stadia though. Such as needing to pay for faster internet, or fees for going over your ISP's data cap.

Speaking for myself, I've been subbed to PS+ for a grand total of 9 months and have no plans to resub this gen. I have over 60 PS4 games and only like 5 of them need online play for any meaningful part of the game.

With all due respect I find your first argument to be silly at best.  I pay for internet for PSN+, Netflix, Prime and a bunch of other reasons.  Paying for "faster" internet isn't part of the cost for Stadia.  Internet is a fixed cost and is used for a wide range of reasons.  I suspect most all gamers have strong internet and Stadia has nothing to do with it.  That is nothing more than you arbitrarily driving up the cost because you are scared of streaming.  And anybody with a cap is clearly not a candidate for Stadia.  Personally I have no caps.  Ultimately 4k requires 35 mbps...  sorry, 35 mbps internet isn't a heavy lift in 2019.  I get over double that for $50 a month.  And again, I use internet for all kinds of reason.  Attributing internet cost against Stadia is stupid.  It is 2019, I'm pretty sure internet has been mass adopted at this point for daily use.

Good for you?  Fact is Stadia doesn't charge for online, Playstation does.  Depending on the person that something to factor in.  I am not saying Stadia is right for everybody, in fact I don't think it is right for me.  I just take offense when people act like a product is wrong simply because they don't personally like it.  Stadia is interesting, I see the appeal.  If the product isn't for you, cool, it is understandable.  But move on and stop acting like it is the antichrist because you find streaming scary.

The internet speed and latency you need for PSN+ and your video streaming isn't the same as the one you need for Stadia 4K even more if other people in your house uses it. Then you go and talk about playing in smartphones or in your friend house, do you also pay a very high premium 5G smartphone plan?

I asked for the source on it not charging for online but didn't get a reply.
